Wokha district open TT championship kicks off
WOKHA — The Wokha district open table tennis championship for (men and women), organised by the Wokha District Table Tennis Association (WDTTA), kicked off on Tuesday at indoor badminton stadium, GHSS colony, Wokha town.
Chief Election Officer (CEO) of Nagaland, Vyasan R, the guest of honour of the inaugural programme, in his address, said that Wokha district has a very strong sporting culture. The CEO urged all sports associations in the district to ensure regular conduct of sporting events so that sportspersons get the opportunity to up-skill their talents.
Vyasan also appreciated the WDTTA officials for taking keen interest in organising the event, thereby providing opportunities to the youth of Wokha district. He expressed optimism that the district will produce good players who will represent the district, state and even the country.
He further extended best wishes to the players and the winners who will be representing the district in the upcoming inter-district tournament.
District Youth Resources Officer, Wokha, K Libemo Jami, who also spoke on the occasion, acknowledged Vysan R, who was also former deputy commissioner of Wokha, for his contribution to the district in the field of sports.
Earlier, the welcome note was delivered by L Jonjibemo Odyuo president WDTTA and keynote address delivered by Dr. Keeny Ghosh, WDTTA representative.
Altogether, 16 men and four women are participating in the championship.
