Wokha Circle Federation holds annual general meeting
DIMAPUR — The Wokha Circle Federation (WCF), comprising eight villages, 12 village level organisations (VLOs), and 158 self-help groups (SHGs), held its third annual general meeting on May 25 at Elumyo village, attended by over 250 members.
According to a press release, Obendangba, assistant registrar of cooperative societies (ARCS), Wokha, speaking at the meeting, expressed his appreciation to the SHG members for upholding ‘the federation vision statement’ and further assured them of assistance in registering the federation under the Cooperative Society Act.
Guest speaker Anuranjan Singh, a skill development officer at the ETF cell in Wokha, advised the SHGs to focus on developing one product per SHG or one product per VLO. He emphasised the importance of adopting a single skill for each SHG and VLO to prevent duplication and enhance their capacity for exporting products.
The assistant district planning officer of Wokha, Samuel Kithan, applauded the SHGs for their efforts and dedication. Kithan also encouraged the women to broaden their mindset, break free from traditional norms, embrace new techniques, and focus on their goals.
Janbeno from MoneyWise, an NGO, took the stage to discuss financial literacy, the process and importance of social security schemes, and how to access Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme benefits.
During the meeting, the president of WCF, Chumlano Ezung, delivered the welcome address, which was followed by the activities report presented by the vice president, Myingthunglo Ezung. The financial report was delivered by the area coordinator, H Wopyomo Kikon, who also serves as the mentor manager.
At the programme, awards were also presented. The Performance award for the session for the best VF was received by Lolano (Amonghayi SHG), the best MBK went to Ruth Ovung (Dew Drops SHG), the Best CSP was awarded to Elanbeni (Senthan SHG), and the Best CRP was Yanbeni Humtsoe (Senjumta VLO).
The Best SHG was awarded to Dew Drops, and the Best VLO was bagged by Senjumta VLO from Elumyo Village.
