Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has appealed to the government of Nagaland to reconsider its recent order, directing AHODs and HODs in the state to obtain information of all the government employees about their family members and relatives in the “underground organisations” through a self- declaration form.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the NTC said that the government of India and the Naga political groups are engaging in political negotiations through common understandings.

Stating that enough killings, bloodshed and atrocities have been meted out to the innocent people of the state for over six decades, the council said demanding the AHODs and HODs to obtain information of the employees’ about their relatives in Naga political groups is “not necessarily the responsibility of the government employees”.

Saying that “such action not only disturbs the minds of the peace loving people but the hard earned peaceful atmosphere in the state is also put at stake”, the NTC has urged the state government to withdraw its July 7 order in the interest of tranquillity and peaceful atmosphere in the land.

On Covid-19 pandemic

The NTC has also appealed to all citizens of the state to respect the laid down SOP, saying that it is the responsibility of every individual to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
