Dimapur, Dec. 11: The 21st edition of Winter Cricket Challenge, the premier cricket tournament, scheduled to begin from December 19 at Local Ground Wokha will once again witness teams from outside the State. The tournament will coincide with the WCC Night Carnival from day one till the grand finale.
The cricket lovers of Wokha district will get the opportunity to behold cricketers from other states with one time semi finalist, Team Golaghat, Assam, confirming their participation in the tournament. Teams outside the state will get direct entry in the second round, meaning Team Golaghat will be in the second round of the coveted trophy.
The opening ceremony will be held at 10 am on December 19. Thungdeno Mozhui, PD, DRDA, Wokha, will declare the tournament open as the chief guest of the opening ceremony. The closing ceremony will be graced by Er. Albert Ovung.As announced earlier, the last date for confirmation and submission of form will be on December 15, 2016. Interested teams may avail registration form from N. K. Enterprise, Tsumang Colony, Wokha Town till noon December 15, 2016. The fixtures of the tourney shall be drawn on December 16 at 2 pm. No teams will be entertained after the last date for submission of registration form, the organisers said.
As a part of a celebration for the glorious 21 years of its existence, the organisers have decided to hold Winter Cricket Challenge Night Carnival throughout the tournament. The last date for registration for the night carnival has been fixed on December 17, 2016.
