Week-long mental awareness programmes conclude in Zunheboto
KOHIMA — In recognition of May as ‘Mental Health Awareness Month,’ the Lapiye Centre for Mental Well-Being conducted a series of awareness programmes from May 14 to May 19 across various churches and schools in the Akuluto area and Satoi range under the Zunheboto district.
The main objectives of the workshops were to generate stakeholder participation and engagement in responding to mental health issues and to raise awareness among those with mental and behavioural concerns.
The programmes also aimed to develop a community outreach plan for mental health services involving all stakeholders and to establish a district-level working group to address mental health challenges, particularly for children and adolescents.
The programme began on May 14 with a consultative workshop based on the 2024 Mental Health Awareness theme, “Movement, moving more for mental health,” held at the DC conference hall in Zunheboto.
The event at the DC office complex saw participation from over 80 individuals, including stakeholders, church leaders, and NGO representatives.
