Weather forecast: More rain expected in Nagaland, other north-eastern states
DIMAPUR — Citing a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam in lower tropospheric levels and a strong southwesterly/southerly winds prevailing from Bay of Bengal to north-eastern states in lower tropospheric levels, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rains along with thunderstorm in the northeast region over the next week.
“Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph) likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next 7 days,” read an update from IMD.
It added that isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Assam and Meghalaya from June 3 to the 5th and heavy rainfall from June 6 to the 7th; isolated heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during June 3 to the 6th; Arunachal Pradesh on June 3 and 4; and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on June 5 and 6.
