The Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju reiterated the NDA government’s firm stand on the insurgent groups of the North East by stating “we are ready to discuss all issues but few gun-toting insurgents should not take the might of the country for granted.”
Rijiju also pointed out that “everybody talks about North East being far away from mainland India, but I will say that India is not only Delhi. In fact the country starts from its international border region and North East is right there.” Rijiju was launching a monthly magazine titled FIRST WORD, which mainly focuses on the North East region on Saturday. He stressed the need for a good magazine and felt that the magazine can become a voice of the North East.
MHA Joint Secretary in charge of the region, Shambhu Singh has fully corroborated the exclusive story of the magazine titled “Al Qaeda begins hiring in North East.” Singh added, “I have been asking the state government to investigate, but they have not given me any conclusive report as yet. I am extremely happy that the magazine dared to expose a very nefarious design by Al Qaeda which is of great concern.”Singh hinted that the Committee on North East headed by its chairman MP Bezbaruah has recommended introduction anti-racial law to check the attack on the people from the North East in Delhi and other Metros.
The Editor of the magazine Madhumita Chakraborty stressed that the magazine would try to bridge the gap between the region and the rest of the country as well as bring out the various concerns of the region and its people.
Tripura MP Jitendra Choudhury highlighted that sustained development work along with tough handling of the insurgents had finally brought lasting peace in the state. Today, the people of state, both tribals and non-tribals are living happily. The function started with a rap song presented by Borkung Hrangkhawl. He is the son of Tripura’s first insurgent leader Bijoy Hrangkhawl who finally surrendered in August 1989.
