WDLSA consults with juvenile stakeholders

Dimapur, Sep 4 (EMN): Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) held a consultation workshop with Juvenile Justice (JJ) stakeholders at SP Conference hall Wokha on September 4.
Additional Superintendent of police Wokha, Tokavi Sumi said for effective and efficient implementation on juvenile acts all stakeholders must co-operate with one another and work in the best interest of the child. He lamented the difficulties in handling juvenile cases especially in rural areas such as lack of awareness, access to transportation and absence of special homes and proper facilities and cooperation.
Additional Superintendent of police further thanked the WDLSA for organizing the programme along with the stakeholders-observation home, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) and Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Legal cum Probation Officer Wokha and Legal Aid Counsel and Trainer NSLSA, Neinguvoto Krose spoke on Child Rights vis-a-vis Juvenile justice Act and Legal Sid Counsel and Trainer NSLSA, Limasenal Longkumer spoke on POCSO with emphasis on NALSA Child Friendly and Protection Scheme, 2015.
Superindent OH Wokha Wobenthung Patton, SJPU in charge of each Police Station Wokha, DCPU Wokha and CWC shared their experiences and difficulties.
Judicial magistrate first Class and Secretary WDLSA, Seyielenuo Mezhu delivered opening remark and Panel lawyer WDLSA, Gracy Ezung delivered closing remark.
