Water conservation reservoir inaugurated at Zapami

DIMAPUR — A water conservation reservoir at Khrari, Zapami village in Phek district, was formally inaugurated on Tuesday by Kevisa Kense, commissioner and secretary of Rural Development.

Addressing the gathering, Kense lauded Zapami village for the successful implementation of various projects under the Rural Development department. He informed that the department has been making significant efforts to enhance the livelihoods and economies of the rural populace.

Kedoutsolhi Wetsah, the secretary of the Zapami Village Development Board, said on the occasion that the construction of the water conservation reservoir was funded under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) during 2022-2023.

He commented that the water conservation reservoir has brought immense satisfaction and fulfilment to the community, addressing a long-felt aspiration. He further described it as an asset that would uplift the village economy.

Razouvolie Dozo, joint secretary, Horticulture, and Vekhrolo Koza, block development officer, Pfutsero, also spoke during the event.

The programme was chaired by Mikha Kenye, former president of the Chakhesang Public Organisation.

Wekhazii Kreo, chairman of the Zapami Village Council, delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dingulo Khutso, the president of the NDPP 16th Pfutsero A/C.
