Vizo CC win inaugural DCC Summer Cup

DIMAPUR —Vizo CC defeated Kati Super Strikers to win the inaugural DCC Summer Cup, a super-six soft ball cricket tournament organised by the Dapfhütsumia Cricket Club (DCC), on June 28 and 29 at D Khel Ground, Kohima.

According to a press release, 19 teams participated in the tournament.

Winning the toss on June 29, the Kati Super Strikers chose to field first. The power hitters from Vizo CC posted a respectable total of 79/3 in six overs. Vizokhotuo Nguzhü was the top scorer for Vizo CC with 35 runs.

In the second inning, the bowlers from Vizo CC displayed disciplined performance, leaving the Kati Super Strikers’ batsmen with little room to manoeuvre. Nevertheless, the Strikers fought hard and managed to score 61 runs for the loss of one wicket after the sixth over.

Ntsenlo of the Kati Super Strikers top-scored for their team with 45 valuable runs.

Vizokhotuo Nguzhü of Vizo CC was named Man of the Match and awarded INR 2,000. The winning team received INR 20,000, while the runner-up was awarded INR 10,000.

The closing ceremony was attended by Neisedelie Sachü, president of the Dapfhütsumia Youth Organisation, who, in his speech, encouraged the participants to persistently pursue their dreams.

It is worth mentioning that Ntsenlo of Kati Super Strikers achieved a hat-trick in the semi-final match, the only hat-trick of the tournament
