Viswema youth holds general session

Dimapur, April 23 (EMN):
Expounding that youth are the backbone of society, MLA Er. Kropol Vitsu urged the youth to change mindset by making efforts to stand on their own feet without depending solely on government funds for sustenance.

MLA Er. Kropol Vitsu said this while addressing the youth on the occasion of 72nd Session of the Viswema Youth Organisation (VYO) held at Viswema Council Hall on April 22.

Referring to recent report, MLA Kropol, rued that Nagaland topped the rank on states’ most dependent on central government funds. He said it is time to change our mindset and stand on our own without solely depending on the government for funds.

Stressing on the importance of dignity of labour, he exhorted the youth to work diligently in any work entrusted to them. Citing that large chunk of State’s resources goes into construction works in which migrant labourers from outside the State were the beneficiaries, he urged the youth to take up jobs in construction works so that it will not only benefit them but also contribute to the State economy.

He advised the youth to be shrewd in any matter that they undertake. Also stating that sanitation being a major factor for development, he suggested keeping the village clean. In this regard, he suggested construction of an incinerator in the village and encourage use of biodegradable products.

He further mentioned that Viswema is one of the cleanest villages in the State and commended the VYO for undertaking various measures to keep the village clean.

Quoting former US President, John F Kennedy who once said, ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country,’ he exhorted the youth to work hard and contribute to the society.

The session was chaired by Viswema Youth Organisation President, VisakhoKiso. A folk song was presented by K-Khel,Viswema village.
