Village chiefs assure support towards WSBAK platinum jubilee celebration
Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): The Western Sümi Kükami (village chiefs) have unanimously decided to give full cooperation towards the platinum jubilee celebration of the Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) scheduled in 2022 and also strengthen the association in letter and spirit.
The decision to this effect was taken during a consultative meeting of the WSBAK with the Western Sümi Kükami held at Aküvüto in Thahekhu village on October 27. An update from WSBAK executive secretary Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema stated that more than 150 Kükami representing about 138 villages from Western Sümi region participated in the consultation.
Speaking on the occasion, lone Lok Sabha MP and guest of honour Tokheho Yepthomi exhorted the village chiefs to remain united and work for the church and society. He also encouraged them to be more responsible and honest as they are desired by the people and preserved by God.
Dr. Nihoto P Chishi (95), ato kükau (chief) of Nihoto village and one of the oldest chiefs from Western Sümi villages, conveyed goodwill message of cooperation for the jubilee celebration project. It mentioned that Dr. Chishi was also the teacher of Tokheho during school days in Aghunato. Dr. Chishi further encouraged the chiefs to be honest and take care the needs of the people who seek their help.
Dr. Izheho Zhimomi (85), ato kükau of Sakipheto, and many others delivered solidarity speeches.
