Dimapur, March 22 (EMN): The Vigilance & Anti-Corruption establishment has refuted what it noted was news reports that the chief minister’s office was “misused” and that “even the Vigilance Commission declined to take up the petition filed by Congress.”

The Vigilance & Anti-Corruption agency issued a press release on Wednesday stating that the last complaint that the Congress party lodge pertained to a case of misappropriation of funds in the Dimapur Municipal Council.

“Apropos to a news item under the headline ‘CM’s office misused’ which was published in certain local dailies on 18th March, 2017 alleging that ‘even the Vigilance Commission declined to take up the petition filed by Congress’,” the agency stated.

“In this regard it is necessary to clarify the position of the Commission on the matter that as far as the record of the Commission is concerned, no such petition(s) or formal complaint has been received from the NPCC in the recent years. The last complaint lodged by the Congress Party was pertaining to the Dimapur Municipal Council for misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs. 5,60,45,580/- only during May 2012.”

Said case was “chargesheeted” and is under trial at the District & Session Judge and Special Judge of the State Vigilance Commission, the press release stated. The statement was appended by I Meyionen, director & deputy Inspector General of Police of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Police.
