Venuzo Dawhuo to compete at World Paih Championship in the United States
KOHIMA — Reigning Nagaland wrestling champion Venuzo Dawhuo, who also won the Chin Wrestling Championship held in the US in July this year, is set to compete in the upcoming World Paih Championship (WPC).
The wrestling sensation from Nagaland is leaving on November 18, along with his manager and coach, to complete in the World Paih Championship scheduled to be held on November 24.
The duo informed Eastern Mirror that six top contenders are in the fray for the championship, and the participation is via invitation.
According to sources, well-known wrestler Rung Lian Ceu, who participated at the 12th Open Naga Wrestling 2019 in Nagaland, is also competing in the WPC, along with other popular wrestlers from the US and Australia.
When asked if the Chin Wrestling (Paih) Champion Mang C. Lian, who had taken on Venuzo Dawhuo during the 12th Biennial Convention of Chin Youth Organisation of North America (CYONA), is participating in the upcoming event, if was informed that there’s no confirmation about his participation till now.
Meanwhile, Dawhuo along with his manager and coach sought the blessings and prayers from his village, Thenyizumi, in the Phek district on Sunday, as they are setting of for the United States this weekend.
The duo said that competition is going to be tough but looking forward to it.
They are expected to return to Nagaland on November 29.
