Venüzo Dawhuo of Thenyizu village today emerged the champion of the 26th Meet of Chokri Area Wrestling Association (CAWA) held at K Basa.
Dawhuo, a promising wrestler, pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 60,000 sponsored by Zaveyi Nyekha, Retd principal director of School Education.
Vevolhu Swuro, also from Thenyizu village, came second and won a cash prize of 50,000 sponsored by Velasa Nakro, Registrar Cooperation Nagaland, while Besüveto Chüzho from Phusachodu claimed the third position and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.40,000 sponsored by Vekhosa Puro and Thupukhoyi Swuro from Chetheba Town pocketed Rs. 20,000 sponsored by Posherü Thelüo by winning the 4th place. Earlier, Chotisuh Sazo graced the occasion as the chief guest and called upon the wrestlers to take wrestling as profession.He also stressed on the need to promote the game of Naga wrestling to the National level. Müdozho Chüzho, Rtd. senior architect NPWD, graced the closing function as the chief guest and gave away prizes to the winners.
