Various districts issue order on movement of stranded people
Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): Several districts like Tuensang, Tening and Kiphire have issued orders in connection with movements of stranded people in Nagaland.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant has issued an order informing that the state government will allow movements of locals who are stranded in Tuensang district to return to their home districts or villages.
In a statement issued by DIPR, the DC stated following actions have initiated to ensure seamless movement:
- A dedicated facilitation cell has been opened at DC office, Tuensang on May 5 to issue travel permit and it has started receiving application from stranded people. The members of the cell are SDO (C) Sadar, Shelley Katiry as nodal officer (9862089699), EAC HQ, Puhan Khiamniungan and SS NST S Meju as members (8787500034, 7005310509).
- Free NST bus services will be provided for transportation of stranded people: Booking of NST and private bus tickets to be undertaken by this cell and detailed like name /gender /age/designation /present location /home district /contact no. should be provided.
- All executive magistrates through the ward or village authority may compile the list from respective jurisdiction and submit to the facilitation centre.
- Stranded local /indigenous people wanting to travel in their own private vehicle to be allow after the DC allows necessary permit specifying travel dates.
- This movement regime is permitted for local /indigenous people only and having permanent address in Nagaland.
- Special care should be taken to ensure that social distancing and other protocols are to be maintained at all times.
- The transportation of such stranded persons will be facilitated only during the permissible window period of three days from May 7 to the 9th.
Tening
The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Tening, Rhosietho Nguori, has issued an order informing that indigenous people/ locals stranded in other districts within Nagaland can return to their home towns from May 7 to the 9th.
The order stated that people should follow the following guidelines:
- Stranded people wanting to travel in their private vehicle(s) will be allowed after obtaining travel permit from “facilitation cell” /District Control Room Jalukie from the office of the additional deputy commissioner after necessary authorisation.
- The movement regime is permitted for local/indigenous people for inter-district travel only and having ‘permanent residence/address in Nagaland’. As per directive, free NST bus will be provided for transportation to those who cannot avail private transport.
- Special care to be ensured while travelling; all travellers to wear masks and observe social distancing measures.
In another notification, the ADC has directed all shops and business establishments under Tening sub-division to open from 6am to 5pm on all business days till further order. It has also directed that all shop owners to ensure social distancing, use face mask on public places and provide hand washing kiosks/sanitations.
Kiphire
District Task Force Kiphire discussed on logistics in regard to the intra-district transportation of stranded citizens due to Covid-19 lockdown at a meeting held in the DC’s conference Hall on May 5, informed an update from DIPR.
Chaired by Sarita Yadav, DC and DTF chairperson of Kiphire, the house decided to allow movement of Nagaland citizens for few days with effect from Thursday, May 7, to enable stranded people reach their respective home towns.
“Facilitation centre has been arranged in the control room DC office, where enlisting and monitoring of travellers will be carried out. Police department/enforcement have been requested to carry out proper screening at their arrival in each check points i.e., at Longmatra, Yangzitong and Longthonger check points,” the update read.
Yadav also requested the Medical department to organise mock drill again, citing that “SOP issued by the government is not full proof”.
