Vadeo wins open Chakhesang Naga wrestling Championship

Pfütsero, Nov. 4 (EMN): Twenty-year-old Hülüyi D Vadeo emerged the ultimate winner of the 2nd Open Chakhesang Naga Wrestling Championship 2022 in the final match held at Pfütsero Sports Complex on Friday.
Hailing from Sakraba village under Phek district, Vadeo took down 31-year-old Kekhriezo Nagi (Sechu Zubza) in both bouts of the final match that ended less than a minute.
Vadeo walked away with INR 2 lakh while his opponent pocketed INR 1 lakh.
Notably, Vadeo holds the champion’s title in Seceku area wrestling and also secured third position in the Chakhesang Wrestling meet, both events held in early part of 2022.
Pfüsato Tetseo of Khulazu Bawe village knocked out Medosatuo Paunuo (Kijumetouma village) to secure third position. He walked away with INR 70,000 while Paunuo received INR 50,000.
Reigning champion Kezhavizo Thevo lost to Medosatuo Paunuo in the quarterfinals round. Southern Angami Wrestling Champion, Atuo Tevo lost to Huluyi D Vadeo in another quarterfinal bout.
Quarterfinalists Kethoulhou Mejura, Mudotso Thira, Kezhavizo Thevo and Atuo Tevo received INR 10,000 each.
A total of 60 wrestlers including six from outside the state (three from Karnataka and three from Delhi) participated in the competition.
Meanwhile, Sentilong Imchen from Mokokchung also took part in the championship.
State legislator and co-chairman of United Democratic Alliance, Kuzholuzo Nienu, and vice president of Wrestling Federation of India, Neikhrolo Khalo, graced the event. The event was managed by the Lasumi Baptist Church in aid of their new church building construction and platinum jubilee celebration scheduled in 2023.
