Kohima, June 21 (EMN):
The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in collaboration with the district task force (DTF) and chief medical office (CMO) organised a one-day vaccination drive at KCCI office in Kohima on Monday.

Around 145 individuals from the business community in Kohima came forward and took their first jab at the KCCI office near Khuociezie (local ground).

N Bhavani Shri, additional deputy commissioner of Kohima, also visited the vaccination site and assured to consult with CMO to conduct another session so that those traders who missed the first dose can avail the vaccine soon.

As such, she asked KCCI to continue with the registration process so that more traders may be vaccinated.

KCCI officials informed Eastern Mirror that they were the first in the state to initiate such a vaccination drive for any business community.

Stating that any kind of closure affects the business people and that they are also equally prone to Covid-19 infection like anybody in the society, KCCI said they decided to conduct a session.

Taking note that some shopkeepers were left behind when sessions were conducted in the colonies, the association felt that it was more feasible for traders to come and get registered and receive the jab at KCCI office at their convenience.

The officials also stated that traders who have been vaccinated would be asked to display a notice on their shops denoting that they have been vaccinated while they would be given the Covid vaccination certificate.

It was also learnt that the vaccination would be made “mandatory” as a safety measure, ‘as traders face all kinds of people while trading.’

K Henry Chisüte, information and publicity secretary of KCCI, further informed that as the number of registered names for Covid vaccination had risen, it was decided that the vaccination drive would continue again on June 23 at  KCCI office premises.

Those traders and shopkeepers who are yet to register, can do so on Tuesday (June 22) while they have been informed to bring any of the following: Aadhaar/Pan card/Voter ID/Driving license.
