DIMAPUR — Two contractors have received explanation calls from the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) for failing to execute their respective projects in accordance with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and Plan of Action (POA).

In a letter dated September 24 to the contractor, TZ and Sons Builders of Kiphire, the USSC stated that it inspected the designated construction site at the ZPC Auditorium (Government College, Kiphire) and observed that the project was not executed according to the DPR and POA provided by the district administration, despite a budget allocation of INR 1,00,20,000.

The USSC asked the contractor to appear in person at the USSC office on September 26 at 12 noon to provide a comprehensive explanation for the non-compliance with the DPR specifications.

In a similar letter to contractor S K James, designated contractor for the fishery project at Zungki Valley, the union alleged that following an inspection of the site, it was observed that the project had not been executed according to the DPR and POA provided by the district administration, despite a sanctioned budget of INR 99,50,000.

James has been asked to appear in person at the USSC office on September 26 at 10 am to provide an explanation for the non-compliance with the DPR specifications.

It further said that in both cases, the inspection revealed substandard workmanship, raising public concern following RTIs filed by the USSC under the aspirational programmes.

It warned both parties that failure to comply may result in legal action.
