United 16 dismantle league leaders Khriekesa FC 5-0

Kohima, August 21 (EMN): Longkhoi scored a hat-trick as United 16 humiliated league leaders Khriekesa FC 5-0 at the Kohima local ground on Monday.
Khriekesa FC suffered a shocking defeat in the hands of 6th placed United 16 FC to make sure the title race is still alive with just two rounds remaining in the league.
Playing at the ongoing Kohima Football League Captain Jonathan Koso opened the account for United 16 in the 5th minute for United 16. Khriekesa FC never recovered from the goal deficit as United 16 FC fired four goals in the second half with Wanghe scoring a brace and Longkhoi completing his hat-trick in 33rd minute to complete the riot.
Wanghe scored the goals in the 47th and 61st min while Longkhoi scored in the 57th, 85th and 92nd min to become the second hat-trick scorer of the league.
The best chance for Khriekesa FC came in the second half when Ruokuovolie hit the woodwork in the second half but there was no comeback as United 16 sealed the victory.
Sloppy defense from Khriekesa FC side helped United 16 to score five goals in a match.
Despite the defeat, Khriekesa FC remained on top with 10 points from 5 games, United temporarily rose up to 2nd place with 8 points. However, Khriekesa FC will remain on top of the league with a point ahead in the 5th round even if the other top three-team i.e. Ziekezou SC, Nagabazar FC and Addax FC (6 points each) wins their matches on Tuesday.
Three players of Khriekesa FC Kekhriengulie Usou, Kekhriese Ciesotsu, Keviriituo Usou were cautioned with yellow cards.
Forerunners’ FC register first win
Forerunners’ FC made a late comeback in the second half to register their first win by defeating Power Comm 2-1 in the second match of the ongoing Kohima Football League.
Power Comm took the lead through Nyithong Magh in the 44th minute but in the second half, Captain Seyiekhrietuo scored the equaliser in the 54th minute for Forerunners’ and Avilie added the second goal in the last minute to secure three important points for Forerunners’.
With two draws, two losses and a win, Forerunners’ FC moved above Power Comm and temporarily sits in the 5th place with 6 points from 5 games, on the other hand, Power Comm slipped to the bottom of the league with 4 points (three losses, one draw, and a win).
Kekhrie of Forerunners’ FC and Velukho Rakho, Senpenlo Kath of Power Comm were cautioned with a yellow card each during the match.
Engineer Keviletuo Yiese, President, Kohima Village Gazetted Officers’ Krotho was the match patron of the day.
