Union minister holds review meeting in Manipur

Imphal, Jan 11 (EMN): Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Wednesday reviewed various central schemes taken up at Thoubal district in Manipur.

The District Level Officers (DLO) of various departments apprised the Union MoS Home about the various central sponsored schemes taken up by the departments during the review meeting held at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Thoubal district.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner A Subhash, SP Jogeshchandra Haobijam, Additional District Magistrate and other DLOs of Thoubal district.

Rai advised the DLOs to visit fields and take stock of the situation for better implementation of schemes.

Expressing happiness regarding the implementation of Jaal Jeevan Mission in the district which is an ambitious programme to avail safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connection by 2024, he said, “The model implemented in the district can be applied to other parts of India also.”

Regarding the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, he instructed the officials to focus on counselling and treatment facilities in hospitals and rehabilitation centres. He also instructed the officials to beautify the water bodies to attract the public with regard to Mission Amrit Sarovar.

Mission Amrit Sarovar is aimed at developing and rejuvenating 75 water bodies in each district of the country as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, an initiative of central government to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of Independence and glorious history of its people, culture and achievement. 

The Amrit Sarovar projects in the district are targeted to be completed by August this year. He also appealed the government officials to take up new initiatives to increase and ensure the availability of government benefits directly to the beneficiaries.
