Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): Advisor of Youth Resources & Sports (YR&S), Zale Neikha, on Thursday unveiled the foundation stone of astro turf pitch at Rempukong, Ungma village, Mokokchung district.
The YR&S advisor in his address thanked chief minister Neiphiu Rio, under whose leadership the astro turf ground was approved.
“The foundation for achieving excellence in the arena of sports and games at any levels is through good infrastructure which includes not only proper grounds, stadiums, but good Coaches, mentors, trainers and sportspersons,” Neikha said.
He said in order to train the Naga youths to excel in games and sports, not just in the state but nationally, the state government is constantly working on sporting Infrastructure in every district to provide better equipments to sportspersons, allowing them to train and familiarise themselves with the modern methods and proven technologies, to provide better approach and produce champions.
“As we all know, Mokokchung is known as the ‘Land of the Pioneers’ and Dr. T Ao is one of the many legends this land has nurtured. His name is etched not only in the state but his accomplishments are marked in the history of football worldwide,” he said.
Neikha also said that presently, with the rise in the level of competiveness, sportspersons should be willing to walk the extra mile to achieve success. “This extra mile can be achieved through your hard-work and commitments towards your goals you have,” he said.
He further reminded that no endeavour comes without its challenges, but that one can overcome these challenges “if we all work towards the same goal. Also, we should all embrace the power of unity that sports promote,” he added.
