Mudslides had once blocked the traffic along the NH 2 besides washing away at least 22 houses at Chakhumei and damaging other properties in Karong and Senapati towns. But there was no report of any casualty.
An orphanage home at Karong housing 120 children was washed away by the flood water. The children are now taking shelter at a hostel and junior school. The district authority and public have been extending necessary help to the flood affected individuals.
