Dimapur, Nov. 23 (EMN): An 18-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped and raped by two men in a village in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, police said on Monday.
The woman was kidnapped from her house on the evening of November 21 by the two men, who then took her to a nearby agricultural field where they raped her, SP Arvind Chaturvedi said, according to a PTI report.
The woman’s younger brother and father were present in the house at the time of the incident but could not make out what was happening, the report stated.
It said that the family got to know about it only when her elder brother working in another state called on a relative’s phone to talk to her sister and he arrived at her place to inform her about the call.
During this period, some villagers had spotted two men holding a woman and immediately informed police about it, the report stated.
The woman was found lying beside a canal in an unconscious state on Sunday, the SP stated.
ASP (South) Manoj Pande, along with SHO Subeha, rushed to the spot and sent the woman for a medical examination after taking her statement.
And soon, the accused were arrested, the SP said.
Woman raped and beaten up
In another case, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped and beaten up by three men in a sugarcane filed in Shamli district, police said on Monday.
The woman was raped when she had gone to dispose cow dung on Sunday, according to a complaint lodged by her mother.
According to the complainant, when the woman tried to resist their attempts to rape her, she was beaten up by the three men, a PIB report stated.
The accused threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident, Sarvesh Singh, SHO of Jhinjhana police station said.
A case was registered on the basis of the complaint and the accused were arrested, he added.
