Two linemen electrocuted in Dimapur

DIMAPUR — In an unfortunate incident, two persons were injured after being electrocuted while working on transformer up-gradation near City Tower, in Dimapur, on Monday.

A source from the Power department informed that the incident occurred around 1:00 pm while the two linemen were on duty. They were reportedly working on upgrading the transformer to provide electricity connection to new buildings in the area.

According to the source, the linemen had completed work in the sub-station line and were in the final stages at the main station line when the incident happened. They had requested the main line to be shut down before starting work. However, as they were about to finish the job, the power unexpectedly returned, leading to the incident. The source mentioned a possibility of ‘miscommunication’ but was not certain.

The injured were immediately taken to Metro Hospital, Dimapur by bystanders. As of filing this report, their conditions had slightly improved. One of the linemen was more seriously injured than the other but both are now reportedly out of danger and receiving treatment in the hospital.
