MOKOKCHUNG: A man and a two to three-year-old boy died in a truck accident that occurred near Changki village under Mokokchung district on March 16.
Mokokchung Police informed that the truck bearing registration number AS-03-CC 4134, which was on-route to Tuensang from Dimapur with FCI rice, met with an accident at NH-702 D near Changki village. The ill-fated truck rolled down a deep gorge approximately 200 feet below the road.
The ill-fated truck also caught fire, which was brought under control by the rescue party, police informed.
A police report issued by the additional superintendent of police and PRO Mokokchung stated that the deceased were unable to be identified because their body parts were charred beyond recognition. It reported that one injured person was shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
It was learned that one male and one woman along with a child had boarded the truck from Rangajan under Golaghat district in Assam.
The police informed that besides the charred bodies, a burned human liver was also recovered from the accident site. In this connection, it stated that a case has been registered at Mangkolemba Police Station and investigation was underway.
It added that after completion of all legal formalities, the bodies and burnt human parts were shifted to District Hospital Mokokchung morgue for post mortem examination/ identification.
