IMPHAL, AUGUST 5: At least two persons including one CRPF and one minor were injured during a bomb explosion in Imphal on Friday.
The incident took place near the Bir Tikendrajit park(Saheed Minar)wall located on the eastern side of Imphal polo ground at around 5.40pm,sources said.
The location of blast was also located close to the crowded temporary women market, state museum complex, state fire service office besides the army’s Public Relations Officer’s office.
The injured CRPF personnel was identified as Havildar SM Naik (56) of E company of 109 battalion who was deployed in and around the area for security cover while the injured minor girl was from Imphal.
The day’s explosion took place amidst the series of police combing operations and frisking in and around Imphal area as part of security cover the upcoming Independence day observation in the state.
Earlier, the police in association with state police commandoes conducted search and combing operations at Hatta golapati area, Haokeithel and Khoyathong areas and picked suspected individuals who failed to produce personnel identity cards etc.No armed group or individual claimed the responsibility behind the day’s blast,reports said.
