Dimapur, Oct. 3 (EMN):
Miss Ellen, a Class VII student of Baptist High School of Tening village in Peren district, and Tiakumzuk Ao, Director of Dreamz Unlimited in Dimapur district, were conferred Swachh Sankalp se Swachh Siddhi awards in the essay writing and film competitions.

Miss Ellen secured first position in essay writing in the general category (below 18), while Tiakumzuk Ao secured third position in film competition in the general category (above 18).

They were conferred the award on October 2 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, by Ramesh Jigajinaji, Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation, and Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (Independent charge of Housing and Urban Affairs).

The first session was graced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation had organised “Swachhta hi Seva,” a mass mobilisation campaign to meet the goal of Swachh Bharat from September 15 to October 2 wherein it organised nationwide Swachh Sankalp se Swachh Siddhi essay and film competitions between August 16 and September 15.

The Department of PHE, which had organised the competitions, received 239 essays and 10 short films entries from 11 districts, out of which the best three from each categories were submitted to the Ministry.

The winner of essay writing in general category competition received a citation and a cash award of Rs 100000 and the winner of short film in general category competition received a citation and a cash award of Rs 50000.

Akumla Chuba, Joint Secretary of PHED; Thenusou Sekhose, HRD Consultant of WSSO, PHED; and Rev. Ramriwang, father of Miss Ellen along with the two awardees attended the award ceremony on behalf of the State.
