Two flights carrying 139 passengers arrive in Dimapur

Dimapur, June 3 (EMN):
An Air India aircraft from Kolkata ferried 122 passengers, including an infant to Nagaland on June 3, while 117 passengers including three infants left the commercial hub on the same day.

Medical officials informed that 42 passengers, who arrived on Wednesday, were Kohima-bound, including five who are going to Manipur.

“The Manipur citizens will go to Kohima, and from there Kohima team will take necessary protocol to send them to Manipur,” informed the official.

An Alliance Air aircraft also landed in Dimapur airport at around 11 am on Wednesday with 17 passengers, out of which three were Kohima-bound. It was informed that 29 passengers departed from Dimapur on the same flight.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, one of the passengers of Alliance Air bound for Kohima expressed discomfort at having to wait at the airport for the Kohima-bound returnees onboard Air India.

“I flew to Guwahati yesterday (June 2) from Chandigarh and took the morning flight here. I wish there were small cars arranged for Kohima-bound returnees coming from the morning flight,” shared the passenger.

The director of Dimapur airport, Mughavi Zhimo, also informed this newspaper that passengers going to Kohima were thermal screened and details taken at the airport before leaving for Kohima.

Zhimo further informed that an additional Air India flight would be arriving in Dimapur at 7:35 am on June 4 from Kolkata before heading to Diburgarh.

Air India has resumed its flight service to Dimapur on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The director also informed that Dimapur airport is taking all necessary precautions and following rules as per guidelines to make sure that no passenger comes in contact with any staff.

“We have set up a system where there is a contactless instruction between passenger and staff; we are ensuring safety of all,” Zhimo said.

He further shared that the required skilled labour for certain works to be done at the airport is not available. “We have to bring labour from outside for certain jobs to be done at the airport; we are facing a slight problem in that as nobody wants to come just for a job that takes one day and be quarantined for 14 days,” he said.

Update on stranded persons

Principal Director of School Education Shanavas C, who also oversees stranded people from Nagaland in various parts of the country, informed that the train from Bengaluru with 1501 people is expected to reach the state on June 5.

He stated that the next special train would be from Gujarat and Maharashtra region, followed by south region; Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, although the date is yet to be confirmed. He added that three buses ferrying 98 people from Chandigarh had also moved out on June 3 and are expected to

It was also informed that two buses carrying 44 persons from Himachal Pradesh will reach Dimapur on June 5.
