Two-day inter-college basketball tournament concludes
Dimapur, Feb. 4 (EMN): Immanuel College organised a two-day inter-college basketball tournament for both men and women on Feb. 3 and 4 at the college campus in Dimapur.
Altogether, seven colleges and university namely Immanuel College, St. Joseph University, Unity College, Kohima Science College, Tetso College, SD Jain Girls’ College and Pranabananda Women’s College participated in the tournament.
Finals for both men and women’s teams were played on the second day. In the men’s category, Tetso College emerged as the champions, followed by Immanuel College as the runner-up. In the women’s category, the champions trophy was lifted by Kohima Science College with Tetseo College as the runner-up. The winning colleges were awarded champions trophy along with certificates and a cash prize of INR 10,000 each. The runner-up teams were awarded certificates and cash prize of INR 5000.
In the men’s category, the top scorer was Visulie from Tetso College and in the women’s category Vizotuonuo Usou from Kohima Science College. They were awarded certificates of merit and cash prize of INR 1000 each. The tournament concluded with prize distribution and a photo session with the champions and the runner up teams.
Special guest, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Vesupra Kezo spoke on the first day of the tournament.
In his speech, he spoke about the culture of sports in Nagaland and urged the students to consider sports as a career and not just as a co-curricular activity. He asked them nurture their talents, have the right attitude, determination, be disciplined and have a good work ethic. He further added that one needs to start early if they are passionate to succeed, an update stated.
