Two arrested in connection with Amit Nunisa murder

Diphu, April 30 (EMN): Two persons namely Greckson Hojai @Albin @Chalgouri (26) and Dhurbajyoti Maibangsha @Fulchand (36) were arrested by police in connection with Diphu police station case No. 22/2021 U/S 120B/326/302 IPC R/W sec 27 Arms Act in the killing of Amit Nunisa on December 27 last.

The duo was produced before the district court here on Friday.

Dhansiri police outpost in-charge Ranjit Hazarika informed that Greckson Hojai was arrested in Dimapur on April 29. Following the confession statement of Girickson, another Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) linkman Dhurbajyoti Maibangsha was also arrested. Police claimed the duo has a close connection in the killing of Amit Nunisa.

Dhurbajyoti is a close associate of the DNLA.

Notably, Dhurbajyoti Maibangsha is the president of BJP Dhansiri mandal committee. A party insider of Dhansiri mandal committee informed that Maibangsha is a president of the mandal committee.

Two children drowned at Deihori river

Two children were drowned at Deihori river on Friday while they were taking bath at around 10 am. The area falls under Deithor police station.

The deceased were identified as Mirton Teron, son of Markinson Teron of Kania Terang Village, and Jirjar Teron, son of Jonasing Teron of Wophong Hanse village under Deithor police station in Karbi Anglong district. The children are around 8 to 9 years.

As per locals accounts, the cause of dead was due to erosion of soil from the river banks following excessive mining of sand gravel from the river by using excavators and earth movers.

The boys were buried under the sand while bathing in the river. Their bodies were later pulled out by the public.
