Diphu, June 23 (EMN): Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Tuliram Ronghang has been elected unopposed as Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for a consecutive third term.

Raju Tisso, Chairman of KAAC presided over the election for the post of CEM held at the KAAC session on Thursday.

The chairman, while announcing the name for the post of CEM said, “As no other candidates are contesting for the post of CEM, I declare the name of MAC Tuliram Ronghang as CEM”.

Ronghang, after taking charge as CEM, thanked all the other 24 elected members present in the house for their support.

He further said, “With the collective support and team spirit of ‘Team Karbi Anglong’, we can do a lot for the development of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong. We need to continue our demand for implementation of Article 244 (A) of the Indian constitution for granting of autonomous state and to insist the central government for implementation of MoS 2011 and 2021 signed by various insurgent groups on different occasions”.

The CEM added that the two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong are home to different tribes and communities. The people have voted us to power and in return, it is our responsibility for the equal development of all tribes and communities without discriminating on religion, language, community and caste, he added.

Coming out from the session hall, Ronghang was felicitated by the elected members, party workers and general public.
