Another students’ organization from the eastern regions of the state has served yet another ultimatum, this time to the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) demanding relocation of an institute in Tuensang.
The Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU), the apex student organization of the Chang community, has served the SCERT 30 days to relocate the District Institute of Educational Training in Tuensang. The organization issued a press release on Saturday addressed to the SCERT’s authorities.
The union claimed that the “ultimatum was served base on the lackadaisical attitude of the concern department.”
The local organization said to have submitted a representation in 2014 to the director of SCERT demanding “immediate construction” of “DIET Tuensang.”
“The proposed construction was approved by the Union Ministry, Government of India consisting of one main building to accommodate the office, four class rooms and one conference hall, 61 bedded hostel for boys and 61 bedded hostel for girls, one principal quarter, one building with four dwelling units quarters for academic personal and one building with 4 dwelling units quarters for grade-IV staffs,” the press release stated.
In spite of “several approaches” and “written intimation” to the authorities in concern, the CCSU stated, there was “neither positive response nor any progressive development from the department as yet”. It has been more than five years after it was approved by the Union Ministry, the union stated.
The organization has served the SCERT 30 days “to do the needful and asked not to politicized while awarding contract so that the workmanship should not be compromise.”
Failing to comply within the stipulated time, the organization added, the department will be “held fully responsible for any further course of action by the confederation.”
