DIMAPUR — The Tenyimi Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) has condemned the recent alleged threatening calls and acts of intimidation directed towards the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) during the process of data collection for the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Dimapur.

In a press release, the TSUD said that the ILP is a document required by “non-residents” to enter certain protected areas in India and that it was introduced to protect indigenous communities from exploitation and to preserve their distinct cultural and social identity.

The system primarily aims to safeguard the cultural heritage and interests of indigenous communities, the union said.

Acknowledging and extending solidarity to the initiative taken by the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union on enforcement of ILP, the TSUD affirmed that it is crucial to address the issue in a way that ensures the ILP serves its purpose without becoming a barrier to progress.

“Therefore, the TSUD stands united in its commitment to protect and support one another against any form of illegal actions or intimidation. We also urge all Nagas, irrespective of tribe, and concerned citizens to treat this ongoing issue with utmost seriousness, keeping in mind that it is a collective Naga cause. Together, we must remain united to achieve a common goal,” the union said.

“We shall continue to advocate for the rights and well-being of the Nagas in general. Together, we are stronger, and we will persist in our efforts to achieve justice and fairness for all,” it added.
