Tseminyu, May 26 (EMN): Tseminyu district got its first futsal Astroturf with the inauguration of a private-owned, Riga’s Astroturf in Terogvunyu village on May 26.

Proprietor of Riga’s Astroturf, Benlo Thyu shared that it was his childhood dream to own an Astroturf, while expressing satisfaction at the completion of the project.

The idea was to provide quality pitch and promote futsal at the grassroots level. It envisages engaging passionate footballers, where they can release their stress and get to train better. This will also divert young minds from gadgets and focus on healthy lifestyle, he said while encouraging players to utilise the facility to the maximum.

Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi, while inaugurating the newly-constructed Astroturf, said that the first ever futsal ground in the district is a gift to the entire district. He added that the mini-football game is for the physical fitness of all.

Nagas are in no way less than others in terms of football, he said and requested Rengma tribe in particular and Nagas in general, who are nearby, to avail the opportunity and keep themselves fit.

Tesminyu district was created only a few months back and is lacking in many areas including infrastructure, he added.

Meanwhile, after the inauguration, four exhibition matches were held – Deputy Commissioner’s vs. Superintendent of Police team, officials of Kohima District Football Association Association vs. Football Association Tseminyu District, Vanguard Old Boys vs. Vanguard FC Tseminyu officials and Rengma Sports Association vs. Vanguard FC Tseminyu.
