Tseminyu DSC fetes Nagaland Olympics medal winners

Dimapur, Sep. 8 (EMN): The District Sports Council (DSC) Tseminyu held a felicitation programme for medal winners and officials of the Tseminyu district contingent who took part in the recently concluded Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022, at Tizü Hotel, Tsonsa, on September 7.

According to an update, DC Tseminyu, Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi, who is also the chairman of DSC Tseminyu, graced the programme as special guest to honour the achievements of the district team.

The event was chaired by EAC Tsogin, Tumben Tsanglao, while SP Tseminyu, Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, and ADC Tseminyu, Longasen, exhorted and encouraged the medal winners while for bringing pride and laurels to the district.

Deputy chef-de-mission, Hini Thong, shared experiences of the Olympic Games while also conveying appreciation to the district administration and officers of the district for their pro-active support and leadership. Footballer and silver medalist, Hyulozu Semp, spoke on behalf of the sportspersons.

Tseminyu district team in its maiden Olympic Games participation secured two silver-football and 200m women (Keni Kent) and three bronze medals -100m women (Keni Kent), 400m men (Ntsenlo Semp) and 50m .22 rifle women (Loshule Jishing).

Some of the district players have also been shortlisted to represent the state in the upcoming Northeast Olympics Games to be held in Meghalaya.

The DC handed over citations and awards to the medal winners and officials of the Tseminyu District team including coaches, managers and DSC officials.
