Where is your mouth taking you?

If you are seeking for a life that is worth speaking about, the first place we should start looking at is not our noble deeds we are so eager to write the next book about. Neither is it seeking or fishing from others what they think we are so good at.

Or thinking about what they will say about you, when your time has come and you have passed on.

Most people want to be remembered by their humility, noble deeds and things done or given to others. Some go so far they make sure their name is written somewhere on this earth.

But if you examine your daily life start examining your daily amount of words and thoughts.

The Word of God says: Death and life are in the power of the tongue. And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Which words are you loving? Words of life or words of death? And what are words of life and death? How far are those words reaching?  Most of us are guilty of having some kind of court case going on in our minds about what we will say the next time we see or meet Mr. or Mrs. so and so. Learn to stop that. Instead train your mind to have those conversations with your Lord to whom you yourself are accountable.

Words are a serious matter to God. So serious that in Proverbs 6, three of the seven have to do with the tongue and are an abomination to Him

Pro 6:16-19: There are six evils God truly hates and a seventh that is an abomination to him:

Putting others down while considering yourself superior, spreading lies and rumours, spilling the blood of the innocent, plotting evil in your heart toward another, gloating over doing what’s plainly wrong, spouting lies in false testimony, and stirring up strife between friends. These are entirely despicable to God!

If we claim that God is the same yesterday, today and forever then these proverbs still stand and still mean what is says.

Ask yourself: Are you putting others down (while putting yourself up or making “jokes” about others?)? Are you the one spreading lies and rumours? Are you showing off something that is obviously wrong and going so far you have no qualms even saying it? Are you giving out wrong stories which are in essence a false testimony? Are you the one speaking peace or stirring up strife among your friends?

Mat 12:36: But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Did He mean that? Every Word? Ask Him. This is what He said then. This is what is recorded. If He said it, He meant it.

This is the context:

Mat 12:33: Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Your most precious treasure is not what you own in possessions, but it is your own spirit. That is the thing that will last forever. And anyone who treasures God would want their treasure to be with Him in His eternal glory. Now and in the life which IS to come for us all. Where do you want to spend your eternity? Check your words!

So what are you bringing forth from your spirit? Out of the abundance of the heart (your spirit) the mouth speaks.

What your spirit is busy with, will come out in your thoughts, your words and your deeds. If you want to know what someone really thinks, just be quiet and listen for about 5 to 10 minutes. When the niceties are over, the real stuff what is in their heart will come out.

What you treasure will come out. Here is a good measure stick.

Php 4:8: So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honourable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. (TPT)

The Bible culture was built on words. People could trust each other with their words. No documents needed. Our Naga culture was once based on this Bible culture. What happened? Where did the tongue go wrong that we can now even falsify written documents?  Here a story for you: A certain lady in a small town , Mrs GP was a member of a certain church, pastured by  Pastor Lovely and his wonderful wife. Mrs. GP became jealous for no particular reason but because of that started spreading stories about the pastor couple. The pastor heard about it but decided to stay quiet knowing God would defend him, the truth would come out and Mrs GP would come to repentance. She indeed came to that point. She humbled herself and sought forgiveness. The pastor accepted but took her to the church tower armed with a pillow full of feathers. She wondered. Why? Once they entered the top, he ripped the pillow open and said: “Let them blow all over town”. She did so. Feathers were fluttering far and wide because the wind was strong. Then he said: “Now go collect them all back into the pillow case”.  She said: “But that is impossible!” He soberly said: “Yes, we forgive you. But the damage done by all your stories has gone so far, it becomes almost impossible to undo the damage done and will take years to rectify.”

Let’s take heart with this story: And watch our words. Words can either lift a person up to where they want to live the best life for Him, their King. Or bring a person so far down, they do not want to live anymore.

Where are your words taking you?

Be blessed with a tongue that brings joy to others and thereby yourself.

Blessings
