Training on rubber tapping, processing concludes in Ruzaphema

DIMAPUR — The training on the scientific method of rubber tapping and processing under the Tappers’ Intensive Skill Improvement Programme (TISP) or rubber farmers, which was underway at the Resource Centre, Ruzaphema, concluded on Tuesday.

It was jointly organised by the Rubber Board Regional Office, Dimapur, and the Department of Land Resources. The training commenced on March 18.

According to a press release, Gauranga Das, Deputy Rubber Production Commissioner and in-charge of the Rubber Board of India (RBI) office in Dimapur, and Albert Ngullie, Director of Land Resources, attended the valedictory programme.

The programme was chaired by Hekato N, Additional Director of Land Resources.

Speaking on the occasion, Das emphasised the significance of understanding the scientific method of tapping and processing to ensure the prolonged lifespan of the tree and increased production, while Ngullie acknowledged the cooperation and support of the board towards the department and the rubber farmers in the state.

He also highlighted the significant income that rubber farming can generate and encouraged the trainees to make the best use of the knowledge imparted to them and to share it with other rubber tappers and farmers.

In his remarks, Hekato stated that the training was successful and that all those who had participated in the eight-day-long session were leaving with a wealth of knowledge.

Fifteen tappers/farmers from Chümoukedima, Niuland, Peren, Tseminyu, and Zunheboto districts were trained by Nabajyoti Baruah, Assistant Development Officer, RBI, Z Kitoholi Jimo, Assistant Development Officer, RBI, and Manoj Taid, RTD, RBI.

Yetoshe Achumi, speaking on behalf of the participants, shared that they had gained valuable knowledge about rubber farming during the training. He emphasised that this newfound understanding would be beneficial in the long term.
