DIMAPUR — A two-day training and demonstration on ‘e-challan’ got underway at the conference hall of the Transport Commissionerate in Kohima on August 18.

Addressing the gathering, the transport commissioner of Nagaland, Elias T Lotha, has emphasised on the significance of e-challan as a tool to address urbanisation challenges. He highlighted that adopting e-challan is a crucial step towards transforming into a smart city, stated a DIPR report.

Providing an overview of e-challan, senior technical director and state informatics officer, I Lanusungkum Aier, explained that e-challan is an android-based mobile app and web interface designed to comprehensively assist transport enforcement officers and traffic policemen.

He stated that the application is seamlessly integrated with the Vahan and Sarathi applications and encompasses numerous user-friendly features while encompassing the primary functionalities of the traffic enforcement system.

He stressed that the application serves as an end-to-end automated system with a digital interface catering to all stakeholders within the challan ecosystem. He added that the software provides customised interfaces for enforcement officers, citizens (private and commercial vehicle owners/drivers), state transport offices, regional transport/traffic offices, NIC administration, and the ministry of road and transport.

Aier emphasised that the common system would guarantee data integrity, reliability, and transparency across all stakeholders.

The event was presided over by the deputy transport commissioner, Lovikali Yepthomi.
