DIMAPUR — The training on Jan Arogya Samiti (JAS) for all the chairmen, member secretaries and members of Health and Wellness Centres of all the blocks in Mon district got underway on Monday.

An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Mon, informed that the training would be held in block-wise beginning from July 3 to the 7th led by the CMO, Dr. Vizokholu Theyo; deputy CMO, Dr. Thomas Keppen; NHM district programme manager, Moie Bonnie Konyak; and NHM district accounts manager, Hasinlo Rengma.

The launch event for Mon, Chen, Wakching and Phomching blocks was held in the conference hall of the District Hospital Mon on Monday, wherein Dr. Vizokholu Theyo explained the background, objectives and the need for JAS. She has emphasised that planning, decision making and monitoring are necessary for quality healthcare services. She has urged the members to understand the six health dimensions namely physical, mental, social, emotional, spiritual and vocational.

Dr. Thomas Keppen has explained the composition and structure of JAS and its roles and responsibilities through a powerpoint presentation.

Moie Bonnie Konyak also gave a detail explanation on organising health promotion activities, quality service delivery, catalysing grievance redressal, social accountability exercise and annual public dialogue, while Hesinlo Rengma has explained the untied funds of JAS and its uses, financial management and accounting of untied funds.

In conclusion, the deputy CMO has briefed on the annual calendar days and suggested formats for maintaining records followed with a discussion hour.
