Tourism department Karbi Anglong organises joint meeting with WWF
DIPHU — With an aim to promote Community Base Tourism (CBT) and Community Conserve Area (CCA) in Karbi Anglong, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and Tourism Department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) organised a joint meeting at KAAC auditorium on Monday.
At the meeting, the two parties discussed how they can work together in promoting rural tourism and sustainable development in local areas, raising local entrepreneurs and conservation of wildlife and nature through CCA and CBT projects.
Executive Member (EM), KAAC, Tourism and Water Resources, Ritesh Enghi said that the areas for executing the projects have been selected at Kangthilangso, Singhason, Jongpha and Chapong. Two participants from each of the proposed CCA and CBT projects implementing areas were present at the meeting.
The EM also informed that a three day exchange programme to strengthen links between Karbi Anglong and Arunachal Pradesh was organised by World Wide Fund for Nature India (WWF-India) in collaboration with the Tourism department to know more about the community base tourism of Arunachal Pradesh.
He stated that the tourism department has sent its first batch of 17 youth during the first week of May for a 15-day hotel management course at the Institute of Hotel Management in Dimapur under the Ministry of DONER. The second batch comprising of 47 youths are now undergoing the hotel management course in Dimapur.
