Torechu urges unity for development

Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): Advisor of Evaluation, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), T Torechu, has called upon the people to unite and work in cohesion in the larger interest of the society.
Speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of Tsundang- Sangtsuvong- Vongtsuvong approach road constructed under DUDA (BADP) on January 5, Torechu urged upon the people to maintain the road and use it to their advantage.
Torechu pointed out that ‘without peaceful environment and unity,’ there can be no development. In this regard, he urged upon the people to cooperate with each other in order to bring about positive change in the society. He also called upon the people to join hand together with the government and work hard for the common benefits of the society and people as well.
Stating that ‘peace, co-operation and unity’ are a prerequisite for development to take place, he urged upon the people to maintain peace and tranquillity in the society.
Torechu further urged upon the people to have a positive attitude for any development initiated by the government in order to move forward at par with other districts in the state.
Torechu also called upon the people to cooperate with the government and administration in order to carry forward developmental activities in the areas. Stating that good roads are necessary for economy development of the people, he said road construction works connecting various places would be completed within short period.

Inaugurates multi-purpose building in Pungro
In another programme, Torechu has inaugurated a newly constructed multi- purpose building under DUDA (BADP) at model village Pungro on January 6.
Speaking on the occasion, Torechu said the building could be used for meetings, seminars and other social programmes for the betterment and benefits of the society. He urged upon the people to utilise and maintain the building judiciously and generate income through the building.
Torechu further called upon the village council to co-operate and work with utmost ‘transparency and accountability’ to promote socio – economic development of the rural people.
He said there has been a visible signs of development in the area and added that more such developments are on the pipeline.
Earlier, the dedication prayer was pronounced by PVBB church secretary Resangmew, while the programme was chaired by Chipong, VCC Pungro village and the invocation was said by PVBB pastor Rikhum. The welcome address was delivered by Vongtsukiu, 2nd GB of Pungro village and the benediction was pronounced by women pastor PVBB Akhala.
The programme was attended by SDO (Civil) Pungro, Samuel Thyug, village council members, GBs, village leaders and party workers.
