TN Mannen inaugurates Longkumtoshi Pongen monument hall in Mokokchung
DIMAPUR — Advisor of Law and Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen, inaugurated the Longkumtoshi Pongen monument hall-cum-watch tower at Pongen Salang, Longkhum village, Mokokchung, on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the advisor paid tribute to Longkhum village for producing many luminaries who have contributed so much to Naga society in the past and in the present.
Citing the legendary warrior Longkumtoshi Pongen, who led his comrade to a resounding victory in the battle of Nokrang, the advisor challenged the clansmen and women of the Pongener clan to shoulder the responsibility of becoming the vanguard towards the path of unity among the Ao tribe.
The advisor also encouraged the gathering to strive for brotherhood and unity among clansmen and villages, putting aside temporal divisions caused by differing political principles and self-centrism, adding that it is the only way for the Aos and Nagas to progress and survive as a race.
A brief story on Longkumtoshi Pongen was narrated by Tongpok Pongen (Tatar) on the occasion.
