Throngsomong scoots home with cockfight title

Kisama, Dec. 8 (EMN): Throngsomong from the Yimchunger community has won the Hornbill cockfight competition at Kisama on Dec. 8.

Throngsomong emerged the winner from among 15 competitors from various tribes who participated in the indigenous event. Rengma and Sangtam competitors failed to turn up for the competition. The event was organised by department of Youth Resources and Sports.

The first and second runner-up prizes were bagged by Khasmaigirisa from the Kachari tribe and Renpen from the Lotha tribe.

The champion walked away with a cash award of INR 7,000, while the 1st and 2nd runner-up were given a cash award of INR 5,000 and INR 3,000 respectively.

On day-nine, the traditional shot-put competition would be held at the same venue commencing from 12 noon.
