Kohima, June 16 (EMN):
Three persons at Jakhama quarantine centre were released on June 13 on completion of the 28-day quarantine period, including 14-day institutional quarantine and another 14-day home quarantine.

The Jakhama quarantine centre at Wiza on the outskirt of Jakhama village, which is about 17 km away from the state capital Kohima, is currently managed by the Jakhama Students’ Union (JSU). The home quarantine centre was set up to accommodate the members of Jakhama village who have returned from outside the state due to Covid-19 pandemic.

This was conveyed to Eastern Mirror by JSU president Vishüthazo Kirha. He said one returnee from Delhi and two from Sikkim were discharged to go to their respective homes from Jakhama quarantine centre on June 13.
Kirha informed that as per the government medical formalities, they have checked the medical test reports as well as tested their temperature and issued discharge certificates before their departure.

The disinfection of the rooms and surroundings of the home quarantine centre was also done after the departure of the three inmates, he said adding the discharged returnees were advised for proper home rest.

Currently, three more inmates are undergoing quarantine at the designated centre at Wiza. There are about 25 returnees from Jakhama presently quarantined at the government designated centres in Kohima.

Upon their release, those returnees would be subjected to home quarantine centre at Wiza, following which they would be sent home on completion of all the formalities.

Kirha informed that earlier, the Jakhama Village Council (JVC) and Village Development Board (VDB), had decided to set up the home quarantine amidst a serene nature which is far from the village. It was arranged a couple of months back since all the government institutions in Jakhama are located close by the residences.

He apprised that the government had given grant-in-aid to manage the home quarantine centre. Since the amount was already utilised, he said the village council along with villagers and well-wishers are assisting financially and materially in running the facility.

Jakhama home quarantine can shelter about 18 inmates at a time. After completion of the houses and rooms at Wiza, JSU took charge to look after the facility.

Kekhuzhonu Zhotso, JSU general secretary, informed that the union is managing and monitoring the quarantine centre with all necessary protocols and precautions as “paramount charge is given to them.”
