Three dead in road accident at Senapati, Manipur

Dimapur, Oct. 11(EMN): Three persons died on Tuesday morning after a Dimapur-bound passenger vehicle (winger) from Imphal met with an accident at Kathiko Karong in Senapati district, Manipur.

The chairman of Kathikho village, Kapani, informed Easter Mirror that the vehicle, carrying 14 persons including the driver, collided with a Maruti Alto and skidded off the road.

The vehicle then fell into a river, but with timely intervention and help, many of the passengers were saved from drowning.

Two persons reportedly died on the spot and another died in the hospital, while several others were injured.

Kapani informed that eight persons were admitted to Senapati district hospital, while two persons are in serious condition.

The chairman said that the driver is in stable condition and has returned home to Imphal. He added that the bodies of the death persons have not been identified and is being kept at the police station, till the time of filing this report.

He further updated that they had also successfully pulled the vehicle out from the river.
