Dimapur, June 16 (EMN): Thanamir, the Apple Village of Nagaland in Kiphire district under Pungro sub-division, has reportedly been cut off from the rest of the State following damage of Bailey Bridge due to recent incessant rain.
Thanamir Village Students’ Union (TVSU) has issued a press statement urging the State government to restore the bridge by narrating the untold problems faced by the villagers in the aftermath of the recent development.
The union president N Yapmule informed that the week-long incessant pre-monsoon rain has washed away the retaining wall of the Bailey Bridge bypass to Thanamir village on June 4. It may be mentioned here that the bridge was constructed a couple of years back which is the only bypass via to Thanamir village where mostly tourists from different places visit the village.
In the light of the above stated circumstances, the union has appealed to the concerned department to look into the matter at the earliest for the convenient of the general public.
