Dimapur, Jan. 5 (EMN): The 39th edition of Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) sports meet-cum-federal assembly commenced on Thursday in Tamkoang village with the advisor of DUDA, N Bongkhao Konyak, as the special invitee at the opening ceremony.
The advisor, in his address, lauded TASU for their initiative to promote quality health and education in the sub-division and for rendering support and cooperation towards the administration and other developmental activities, an update informed.
Bongkhao shared that he is always opened to positive criticisms and assured his support for any initiative involving the development of youth.
He also iterated that the UDA government headed by Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, and NDPP president, Chingwang Konyak, is committed to bring change in the area. He further called upon the youth to realise the importance of good governance, peace and development as these are the foundation for bringing the much-needed change.
A total of 14 federating units are taking part in the nine-day event which would feature various competitions such as football, volley ball, sepaktakraw, table tennis, athletics and literary meet.
TASU president, Sangti Konyak, delivered the welcome address, while the pastor of Tamkoang Baptist Church, Thramnyei, offered dedicatory prayer in the programme chaired by B Bemang.
