Tangkhul feature film highlights failure of scholars at the national capital to fathom Naga movement

Scholars at the elite Indian Universities inability to fathom the Naga political movement motivated Meiphung Production to come out with a new feature film ‘Kha Yurna Mataimei’ to show case the empirical happening in romantic tinge.
Set mostly at Delhi and Ukhrul the film depicts the story of a Naga scholar whose dissertation on Naga insurgency movements became a nonplussed research work for many scholars due to lack of knowledge on the life of the people of the region. The promising scholar manoeuvres his ambition when reality dawn on him that ‘life really begins from the hearth and understanding the local issues must begin from the hearth and not from other people and society’. His soft spoken Miranda House girlfriend who wants him to become an IAS officer got annoyed by this sudden twist and break up their relationship. The boy nonchalantly went back home as social activists steered by his unwavering vision, rather than to become an ideopraxist, to let his people in the village first understand the issue of Naga political movement.The film, however, mostly focus on the romantic relationship of the two Naga scholars with the Naga political movement issue and scholars from other society’s outlook at the background but an undeniable causes to their many ups and downs romantic journey. Scripted by Chingya Chawung, the Meiphung Production tactically synchronised the life of North eastern students and scholars at various Indian Universities, the outlook of mainland Indian people and the ignorant and innocent life of the people in the village through romantic story of two Naga scholars at Delhi.
The 1:40 minutes Tangkhul feature film with an English sub titles directed by Riyo Varam feature theatre star Khavangpam Mahung, lead male actor and Timmi Rinpam Lunghar, lead female actor as debutant in motion picture. The film was produced under the sponsorship of Northeast India Youth Advance Mission (NIYAM) to showcase the reality of life being faced by different north eastern region and importance of one’s own culture.
Though a debutant film Meiphung Production claims that the movie is set in Bollywood standard. The locally much hyped film is all set to have premieres at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalaru and other places in NE India during the coming March.
