DIMAPUR — The Lotha Naga Cultural Society (LNCS), in collaboration with Lotha Eloe Hoho, organised a cultural day and talent hunt for Mr. and Miss Tokhû 2023 contestants on October 24 at Hammock Resort, Wokha.

A press release stated that a total of 18 contestants—nine female and nine male—are vying for the title of Mr. and Miss Tokhu, which will be held on November 6 in Wokha.

The event featured different competitions in different categories for men and women, and the participants showcased skills in weaving, crafting baskets, sharpening machetes, performing folk songs and dances, and word meanings.

Speaking as a guest, PCC member and retired joint director, School Education, N Wobenthung Tungoe, stressed the importance of preserving culture, tradition, and literature and said that one should also give importance to one’s mother tongue.

In her speech, EAC Wokha Imkongnukla Ao urged the contestants to recognise their talents and work hard in order to be successful. She also emphasised the importance of thinking beyond tribal lines and providing equal opportunities to all.

During the day-long event, representatives from Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, and former Miss Tokhû also exhorted the participants.

The competitions were judged by Zubemo Kithan, president of LNCS Kohima; R Zuchobeni Ezong, former president of Lotha Eloe Hoho, Wokha; Hsyio Francies Ezung, president of LNCS Longsa Village unit; and Abi Humtsoe of Naga Traditional Corner, Wokha.
